THE WORK

Rubén Fuentes Fuertes, born in Valencia, studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Carlos in his city. He has his own painting and sculpture studio, dedicating himself professionally since 2002. Youngest artist in the Biennial of Valencia in 2007 exhibiting individually at the gallery Rosalia Sender in Valencia.

He defines himself as a craftsman, sculptor and researcher. This constructivist artist of the forms, whose technique pampers, listens and understands the various threats of this comfortable, plastic, noble and ductile element in all its categories, colors and textures with which he plays, uses and resorts to arouse curiosity, enters the dream and live the reality that he proposes. His invented objects are authentic, emanate from used materials such as his brushes and palettes, and become a physical projection of his evolution, witness and protagonist of some of his works, companions in solidarity with color, a component that links, connects the fragments and makes possible the notion from the particles and gives meaning to all its context.

To all this perfection of the forms joins, as the artist assures, the random intervention in the composition with an order from the disorder that leads him to look for new ways, to go from the formless to the defined. Rubén Fuentes Fuertes is an artist with a living work that develops a dialogue and interacts with the viewer, and invites to reflect under the sound of music, returning to the origins, proposing a passage to the emotions.

INSPIRATION

My inspiration comes from the duality between truth and lies explored in the tale of Pinocchio. The costume represents the transformation of the main character as he moves from telling lies to discovering the importance of honesty. The colors and patterns reflect the transition from wood to a more polished finish, symbolizing growth and authenticity. It begins with details that evoke raw wood, representing the character's origin, and gradually transforms with warm colors and intricate patterns that symbolize his emotional growth. Authenticity is reflected through unique and personal details, such as markings that represent truth and sincerity, visually narrating Pinocchio's journey towards becoming a more complete and true being.
